Non-Spoiler Review

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was spectacular. It’s going to be a unique challenge to write a review of this movie completely free of any spoilers, plot points or details but I’ll attempt the challenge. It is definitely worth seeing at least twice. The acting, effects and nostalgia are all there. The “feel” of Star Wars is back in spades, JJ Abrams captured it to a T. Kylo Ren, the main bad guy, is easy to hate (for various reasons I won’t get into) and the main characters are all quite likeable. I strongly recommend that everyone go see it as it’s an entertaining movie for all ages, and an instant classic. I do have some extremely minor complaints about the storyline that prevent the movie from getting a perfect score but overall it was phenomenal. The force is strong with this one. Go see it!

Spoiler Review

WARNING: There are spoilers ahead. Stop reading here if you haven’t seen the movie. What an excellent movie. Han’s death was so poignant, the story of Rey’s struggles so touching… The movie captured the feel of Star Wars and has brought it back for a new generation. It was epic watching Chewie shoot Kylo Ren, he totally had it coming. My only complaint regards the story of Kylo Ren. I don’t understand how he became evil with Han and Leia as parents and Luke as a teacher. What could Lord Snoke have possibly said to convince Kylo Ren to kill all the other jedi and turn on Luke? I don’t feel like the movie got into this enough and showed us why Kylo Ren was the way he was. Sure, his parents sent him to a jedi temple at a young age, but that’s not enough of a reason to go on a killing spree. Other than that though, the cinematography, acting, storyline etc. were all breathtaking to behold. A lot of time and money went into this film and it shows. The force has surrounded us once again, all hail its return!
